Tristan is the type of person that no one expected to go into teaching. Instead, they expected him to go into theater or radio, a job where he could be loud and out there without earning strange looks. Of course, this never stopped him from chasing what he wanted, which was to teach. Tristan is a determined person and once he sets his mind on something, it’s actually very rarely that he gives up on it. It’s a rather nasty habit, but he doesn’t take well to being told that he can’t do something. Other than that, Tristan is a pretty laid back kind of guy. He likes to take life easy and enjoy the beauty in the world. Unless he’s obsessively trying to conquer something. And while most students recommend his lectures after their first one with him, he doesn’t take it easy on kids. He expects hard work out of others and is often disappointed when people don’t meet his standards. It’s part of the reason people are also so surprised that he never left the small town to chase after bigger dreams. Tristan grew up in a rather normal household. He was the middle child in the family so he was always trying to grab the attention of his parents, which is most likely where his loud and dramatic nature comes from. Honestly, he considers his childhood rather dull. Traveling every summer with his family was about the only thing that added spark to it, in his eyes. Tristan excelled in school, when he wasn’t getting kicked out of class for interrupting since he was what teachers like to term the ‘class clown’. College took him only three years because he threw himself into it wholeheartedly, refusing to take summers off so he could finish sooner. He graduated at the age of twenty-one. Jem took a year off after this, deciding to travel a bit on his own and just give his brain a rest before coming back to Modesto. He lived with his parents for a few months before moving to teach in a nearby town. Realizing that he missed the dynamic of Modesto, Tristan started applying at his old high school to teach. After a year, he was finally pulled in for an interview in May. By the end of the month, Tristan was informed that he had landed the job and would be starting in the fall as history teacher at grace m. davis high. |
