O'Connor, Kevin Matthew

Kevin is an intellectual teddy-bear, that likes to come off way more tough and aggressive than he actually is. In reality, he's pretty vulnerable. Unfortunately, this has caused him to be 'burned' once or twice (or maybe a crapton of times), and so this has contributed to his personal 'anti-trust' movement, in which he does not trust anyone he's not known for his entire life. In some weird way, though, he is afraid of being alone. Even though he spends most of his days that way, he just can't help but think of how boring life is getting without a significant other. In turn, Kevin is actually really caring, gentle, and self-less. He's also very sympathetic for those in tough situations, which contributes to his caring personality. Kevin also handles empathy very well, again contributing to the personality. You probably wouldn't guess, but Kevin is also very smart and intellectual - mainly because he's a college professor; but also because he has a craving to be "original" and "care free", so he lives this through books and essays - hence why he likes grading papers, so he can see how creative his students are.


Ryan Vanderhorn was twenty years old when he fell for one Terry O'Connor. It was a summer night, and the beach party was raging. The moon was high above, and the two slipped away (namely to avoid Terry's husband, Sean). They'd known each other for quite some time before their affair began, but this night was special. This was the night Terry told Ryan that she was pregnant, and the child was his and not her husband's. But what could they do - reveal they had an affair? Never! So, they ended it. They both agreed it would be best if no-one knew the child was actually his, so Terry told Sean (her husband) it was his own. Thus, on March 12th, 24 years ago at 1 a.m., Kevin O'Connor burst into the world.

Now, he was raised by his parents, Sean and Terry, and not knowing any different he loved them as any child loves their parents. But one day, a few months after he'd turned 17, he caught his mother and Ryan Vanderhorn (who had "re-kindled" their affair shortly after Kevin's 15th birthday) together. Of course, he was livid - and immediately told his Father. After some time, truth of the first affair was revealed, and that Ryan was Kevin's biological Father.

Knowing this, Kevin started to reach out because he wanted to know Ryan better. Unfortunately for him, Ryan didn't want to be tied down to a kid and didn't even make an attempt to get to know Kevin anymore than he did - as his ex-best friend's kid. Reluctant to not know his bio-dad, Kevin continued (and to this day continues) to try and include Ryan in important moments in his life. But there's been scarcely any return of that effort by Ryan.

You might think that this would cause a rift in Kevin's relationship with his Mom and Sean, but he actually stayed pretty close to both, and still views Sean as his Father. 

Since all of this went down, Sean and Terry have divorced, but Kevin remains close to both of them. He hasn't found that special someone yet, though he's had a few close tries. He works as an English professor at Grace M. Davis HS, and lives in Tully Manor Apartments with his bulldog, Frank.
