She will only really apply herself when it comes to programming or when insulting someone by analyzing them, bring up broad assumptions, and backing it up with incorrect facts that sound reasonable enough once explained to get people against one another. She plays games most of the time she's home, if she's not making herself some money for rent. history Jennifer was born to two Jamaican parents, whose names she's never disclosed. Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, she spent a mere 5 years in JA before her parents decided that it was time to move from the island to a more respectable country. Having moved to Florida, they kept the distance from the beach, buying property nearby, and stayed there. Jennifer never really seemed to fit in, being Jamaican, but not black. At the age of 9, she had her first friend, who, like her, had come from an island. After his parents were discovered as illegal immigrants, however, they were deported back, and she never heard from him again, slipping her into a depression. At the age of 10, she was showing problems at school. Though her assignments were always correct when turned in, she hardly ever did them, or bothered turning them in when done. She was constantly found doing other things besides her schoolwork, and it was thought she had ADD. It took 2 years for doctors to figure out she wasn't ADD, but just wasn't being challenged in her classes. They decided to put her in an advanced program, hoping she would apply herself more, but that just introduced her to the gaming scene, making friends with the gamers in the programs. She found she had a knack for it, and, though she wore nothing but black, found a group of people that seemed to understand her on at least some level. Her biggest problem came at the age of 14. Having 0 funds of her own, and her parents not liking the idea of her wasting away in front of the 'picture box' they refused to get her a console of her own. So, being the smart girl she was, she began asking people on the street for money, looking rather like a homeless teen with no family. Not knowing the rules of the streets, however, she found herself face to face with a man who claimed to own the two blocks she'd been traipsing around. Saying that everything she'd made from her day belonged to him, he demanded she give it to him to avoid trouble. As a relatively sheltered child, she denied him, figuring there was little he could do to her outside of tell her parents, and didn't notice the small switch blade he'd pulled. As she turned her back to head out to the roadside once more, she felt a searing pain along her back as his knife plunged deep and sliced clean through. In her pain, she screamed, causing him to panic and flee, leaving her alone, bleeding on the concrete floor. Having bled out a good ways, she was hospitalized for a long while, where her only visit from her parents was to make sure she was recovering fast enough to not cost a fortune in hospital fees. Given that they refused to let the doctors treat the wound to the utmost, even after the wound healed, the scar remained, a crevice in her back that would be a constant reminder of her troubles and how cruel the world could be. At 15, she filed to emancipate herself from her parents house, claiming she could make money as a programmer on her own and support herself. After a long time in court, she finally got approval and hopped on a bus, a shitty laptop in her bag, and headed up north west, doing odd jobs along the way so she could eat. After arriving in California, she searched the internet for people looking for roommates and continued doing odd jobs until she'd made a name for herself. At 16, she had become known as her handle, ShadowTech, the guru who could fix any problem. Making tons of money working under bigger corporations, she moved into her own apartment, and has her own setup, enrolling in the college after testing out of high school. Now 17, she's a freshman in college, studying whatever courses peak her interests. |
