personality Viola - or Vio, as she prefers to be called - is a complex girl who can be the funniest person to be around or someone who can ruin your whole day. There are times when she actually knows what she wants but there are also times when the only thing she knows for sure is that she's too weird to be understood. On camera, when she's doing YouTube videos she tries to come across as a cheerful, fierce person because that's the part of her personality she likes most. Actually that's just a glimpse of her; when she's around people she doesn't know she's really sarcastic and often even rude which is a protection she gives herself because she's kind of scared to get hurt if she lets people get to close. Once you get to know her you see the Vio that you might know from her videos.history Viola Louise Alcorn was born in a little town in West Yorkshire with about 300 inhabitants, in the middle of England as the second child to Heather and Owen Alcorn, her older brother Ashton being 6 years old. The two kids were really different and he really didn't appreciate the fact that he now had a little sister. He'd try to hurt his baby sister when she was too young to tell anybody whenever they were left alone and if they're parents wouldn't have noticed Vio could have taken severe damage. When the little girl was old enough to talk about what her brother did, he stopped harming her but still he was jealous. When Vio was 8, she had her first wave of self-hatred when her grades dropped. The young girl started getting anxious and her parents would spend more time with her than with her brother because they were worried about her. At age 9, she started getting worse, when she was angry she was explode and even hurt people accidently because she couldn't control herself. Meanwhile her brother, who she by then was closer to and who actually kind of liked her, was going through the same self-hatred she often felt, just that he wouldn't tell anyone. It was a few weeks before Violas 10th birthday, when she came home from school to her parents crying. Her brother had killed himself, throwing himself in front of a train. The next few weeks were the worst one's of her entire life, because her parents decided that they couldn't stay in their town, because in a small town they would be always known as the family with the kid who commited suicide. They moved back to Modesto, California, her mother's home town and Vio decided that she would never ever tell anyone of her brother. The thing that made everything a bit easier for the 10 year old was that her grandparents where also living in Modesto and they were great people. Vio learned to control herself better and not show her parents her self-hatred anymore because she'd seen what could happen thanks to it. She found a handful of friends though she never got close enough to them because she was afraid of losing someone again. At age 13, her self-hatred overwhelmed her and she started cutting her hips and legs, where nobody could see. It was the same year that she started YouTube and starting YouTube was probably the one thing that made her life better. She uploaded her video on October 31, 2008 entitled "HELLOween". The video didn't have a real point, she just introduced herself and talked about what she liked. That was what she did for the next 2 years to help her trough her depression and since the day that she first logged into YouTube she managed to stay clean from cutting. Her videos weren't really special, they were like a lot of other videos but her personality seemed to attract viewers. From then on her life was really okay, Vio used her channel for venting and to interact with others which made her happy. The only other thing in her life that was worth remembering is when she came out as bisexual during her graduation speech at High School with the words "though I never was a Queen Bee, you could call me a Queen Bi". She found that sentence so funny, that she also used it as the title of her Coming Out Video, uploaded only a week later. A week before Vio started College in Modesto - she liked the town and she didn't really want to move - she got a contract with YouTube and started earning her money which makes College much easier because she doesn't have to search a part-time job and she doesn't have the pressure that she won't get a job when she fails. She's thinking about dropping out of College this summer but by now she still is satisfied with her life as a student. |
