Angel acts rather tough on the surface. He plays a thick-skinned, sarcastic, stubborn young man who won't let anyone get him down. Honestly, he is open-minded, a momma's boy, and rather caring. He loves being a father, even though Daniel was born at a younger age than he intended to be a father. He also loves kids, and is currently studying toward a teaching degree with an ASL focus to teach deaf children. He's always interested in language and believes in learning about one's history and culture, though this probably due to his own mixed heritage.


Angel was born Angelus JaeHwan Kim to a Korean father and Guatemalan mother in New York City, preceded by his older sister, Angela Eunji Kim, or Annie. Angel had a pretty normal childhood, or at least he did until he reach fourth grade. There, he had his first crush on a girl, getting her attention with the childish pick-up line of "you almost have the same name as my sister!" He and Anna Kim became close friends. However, because most kids in those days didn't have friends of the other gender, he often protected her from people teasing them. One day when doing so, he suddenly felt dizzy and fell to the ground, unable to hear for another five hours, it horrified young Angel. When he was eventually diagnosed with Meniere's Disease, he was offered to have the surgery, which he quickly refused because of even the minor risk of going permanently deaf.
By middle school, Angel had grumpily adjusted to his disease, now forced into a low-sodium diet, and also advanced the relationship he had with Anna into one of romance. All too soon, their relationship began to get more sexual. They entered high school already known as "the couple." However, soon after they entered high school, they were greeted with another surprise, Anna was pregnant. Unfortunately, while Angel was, surprisingly, being patted on the back for giving his parents a grandchild so quickly, Anna nearly got disowned. Her and Angel eventually convinced her parents they would take care of the baby well.
Daniel Min Kim was born on March 11, 2005. Angel and Anna figured out ways to continue school, thanks to the help of Angel's parents, and Angel got a part-time job on the side. At graduation from high school, Angel proposed to Anna, with the simple speech at graduation of "I got valedictorian just so I could I do this... Anna, will you marry me?" She agreed, and they began their college life engaged. They moved into a humble two bedroom with Angel's childhood friend, Brandon, and Brandon's girlfriend Heather. However, once they were actually living together, they began fighting, especially Anna arguing Angel shouldn't be driving anymore, as drop attacks had started occuring more often. It eventually led to their break up when Angel was 22. After, he went through hell trying to convince the courts he should have custody over Daniel, only winning after losing Daniel as well as his driver's license, and then bringing proof Anna's parents were mentally, and possibly physically, abusing the young boy. At 24, Angel moved across country alone to begin a new life, now with his son. He moved to Modesto, California, and settled down here. Since then, Daniel's settled into school, gaining an interest in basketball and making his own set of friends. Meanwhile, Angel got a job as a teacher's assistant to the college's ASL class. The teacher ended up liking him so much, also a sufferer of Meniere's and now completely deaf, in 2014 he got Angel a job as a student teacher, as long as Angel promised to finish his schooling to earn his teaching degree. Angel signed up the very next semester. In the class, he also met and developed a crush on a girl slightly younger than him, Trinity McKinney. After successfully winning her over and a few dates, he admitted to having a son. Lucky for him, Trinity and Daniel hit it off rather well, Trinity taking quite well to the bright young boy, albeit a bit shocked. Since then, he and Trinity have welcomed Marisol Sonia Kim into their lives, much to Daniel's discontent. Angel is now over 50% deaf due to his Meniere's disease.
